Associate Leadership Retreat: Living the Charism in Turbulent Times

Associate Leadership Retreat: Living the Charism in Turbulent Times
Monday, May 13, 2019 - Thursday, May 16, 2019
Holy Name Passionist Retreat Center - Houston, Texas
NACAR Events

The times in which we are living are especially challenging as the woundedness and collapse of institutions globally become more apparent. The phrase “I am utterly disillusioned” is heard commonly and often. The strength of disillusionment is that one stops believing in an illusion and is prepared, however haltingly, to face reality as it is.

The courage and imagination of our founding forebearers are no less needed today as we confront new frontiers in human consciousness, communication, moral agency, and faith development.

Our days together as associates and religious provide an opportunity to plumb the depths of the charism that we bear and claim its significance in this age, in this millennium.

The retreat will begin on Monday, May 13th at 5:00 p.m. and end on Thursday, May 16th after lunch.

All Associate Directors, Coordinators and others who serve or plan to serve in leadership positions are encouraged to attend this formational retreat!

Holy Name Retreat Center Welcome SignHoly Name Passionist Retreat Center consists of ten acres of serene beauty centrally located within minutes of downtown Houston. It is operated by the Congregation of the Passion of Jesus Christ (the Passionists) founded by Saint Paul of the Cross and a lay staff of dedicated professionals.

Its ministry follows the charism of its founder, Paolo Danei. “In 1714 a young northern Italian, Paolo Danei, had a striking experience of God. It happened during an ordinary sermon in an ordinary church, preached by an unknown parish priest. A sense of God and a desire to serve him filled his heart. Over the years, the experience grew and centered on the Passion of Jesus Christ.”

The Passionist have continued this charism to the current day and serve thousands each year from this Bunker Hill Road location.

Woods at the Holy Name Retreat CenterEstablished in 1948, the manicured grounds consist of 79 private air conditioned rooms, 73 of which have private bathrooms, a well stocked library, assembly rooms, gift shop, Chapel, outdoor and lighted Stations of the Cross, a Labyrinth, Dining Hall, and beautiful gardens.

Outside view of retreat centerIt is the home of Men’s and Women’s Catholic retreats, 12-Step Recovery Retreats and meetings, hosted programs for Clergy and other groups, Spanish Ministries, Youth Ministries, ACTS Retreats and countless other activities. The theme of this year’s Catholic Retreat Season is “Behold: A Retreat with Our Lady, as Mother, Intercessor and Disciple”. All are invited to come to a place “Where “Miracles Happen.”
