Creating A Welcoming Community: Making A Difference in Our World Today!

As Associates and Religious we are called to make a difference in our world. How do we do this in a world filled with conflict and intolerance? As individuals and religious congregations, we have recommitted ourselves to recognize systemic injustice and to the "work creating communion, examining the root causes of injustice and our own complicity, and purging ourselves, our communities" (LCWR 2018 Recommitment Statement on Systemic Injustice).

Sr. Patricia Rogers will provide input that challenges us to consider how we create a community that welcomes women and men who look, sound, pray, and have experienced life different from our own. We will be challenged to work together to make a difference in our hurting world.

Patricia Rogers, OPPatricia Rogers, OP, is a Sinsinawa Dominican. She serves on the Board of Project Return and has served on the Sinsinawa Dominican General Council leadership team, the Board of the National Black Sisters Conference and as Vocation Minister for her Congregation. Patricia served in Education ministry for 30 years. She currently is the Executive Director of the Dominican Center for Women, a nonprofit located in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Her ministry involves engaging and partnering with the Amani residents and community partners to build a better future in Milwaukee.

Celebrating 35 Years!

Midwest Kindred Spirits is an inter-congregational gathering of Associate Directors and Assistant Directors who assist and challenge each other for growth and development of the associate movement. MKS was established in 1984 when representatives from seven religious communities in Wisconsin, Missouri and Illinois gathered, and from that grouping a new expression of the Spirit - Kindred Spirits - was conceived. Today, MKS includes members from 6 states and 22 religious communities. MKS is proud to be a supporting member of the North American Conference of Associates and Religious (NACAR).
